RIP Phyllis Diller

Enterprise is Great

Vice Admiral
Admiral
LA Times

Phyllis Diller, the zany housewife-turned-stand-up comic with the electrified hairdo, outlandish wardrobe and a barrage of self-deprecating jokes punctuated by her trademark laugh, has died. She was 95.

I thought that she had died several years ago.

RIP

I too thought she had passed a long time ago.

I remember her from many 70's variety & game shows, too many to remember the names of.

R.I.P. to a true madwoman.

She lived a long, full life. Thanks for the memories, Phyllis, and rest in peace.

One of my earliest memories was watching the Rankin/Bass animated special Mad Monster Party with Phyllis Diller.

Thanks for the memories Phyllis.

I first saw Phyllis Diller on The Gong Show. She was extravagant and funny, though I was too young to really appreciate her or know who she really was.

Looking over her wiki, I see that the cigarette holder was just part of her act; apparently she was actually a lifelong nonsmoker. Interesting.

She was also a voice on The Powerpuff Girls, as Mask Scara, who I can see was drawn to look like her.

95 is quite a respectable age!

RIP.

She voiced Hank's mother on King of the Hill during its run. I loved Phyllis Diller. Her routine from many years ago about how she knew she was depressed when she accidentally put her bra on backwards one day and it fit better made me cry from laughter. :D

I don't think she was Hanks mom, I would have remember her voice, she may have voiced one of his moms friends during the spring break episode. And I think she might have voiced Peters Mom in family guy, at least it sounded like her.

She was everywhere when I was a kid. Completely unique and always hilarious. I remember back in the 70s when Charlie's Angels was looking for a new Angel, she applied for the job, saying that she would make the other Angels look even better by comparison-- I thought it was a great idea then and I still do.

RIP, Phyllis Diller. :(
