RIP Leonard Nimoy Feb 27th 2015

They also switched out some of the scheduled shows in their normal lineup last night and today for episodes of the same series that featured Nimoy...and they're playing "Amok Time" right now off-schedule.

Tonight on MeTV: (Sorry, this might have already started in some places)

9:30 Twilight Zone: Quality of Mercy

10:00 The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: The Project Strigas Affair (Also guest stars William Shatner, originally aired in 1964 two years before Star Trek)
The agents recruit the owner of a pest-control firm to help them discredit a warmongering Balkan diplomat. Donfield: William Shatner. Solo: Robert Vaughn. Kurasov: Werner Klemperer. Anne: Peggy Ann Garner. Vladeck: Leonard Nimoy. Illya: David McCallum.

11:00 Mission: Impossible: The Hostage
Paris is kidnapped by revolutionaries, who think he's an industrialist. Siomney: Lou Antonio. Jorge Cabal: Joe De Santis. Paris: Leonard Nimoy. Phelps: Peter Graves. Frederico: Lee Duncan. Carlos: David Renard. Ortega: Pepe Callahan.

12:00 Get Smart:The Dead Sea Scrawls
Smart tries to locate the KAOS machine that intercepts CONTROL's messages. Barbara Feldon. Chief: Edward Platt. Stryker: Leonard Nimoy. Shark: Jack Lambert. Informer: Don Brodie.

I've long heard about the The Man From U.N.C.L.E. episode, but I won't be able to see it because my cable affiliate runs paid programming in that slot (then comes back for MI and Get Smart, oddly enough)...! :klingon:

Shatner is getting a lot of flack for not attending his funeral to go to a charity event. Calling him, "Captain Jerk."

Anyone doing that is, well, an idiot. Okay, perhaps uninformed and insensitive are fairer. Unlike Catholics (and perhaps many other faiths--I was raised Catholic so I know it best), who can delay a funeral and burial for a week or more, Jewish tradition (from what I've gathered from a number of Jewish friends of mine) essentially requires a swift ceremony and burial, followed by sitting shiva (a practice that, to me, strongly resembles Catholic wakes in terms of purpose, if not necessarily form--gathering friends and family to mourn and remember). Basically, Catholics and Jews do things in reverse order and therefore Shatner will have plenty of time to sit shiva. Moreover, Shatner was already in Florida and he is also 83 years old. Catching a red-eye for me, at 47, is something of a grind. I can only imagine at 83. Also, among people in show business, the tradition of "the show must go on" remains powerful. Of all people, especially for a charity event, who would have understood, Leonard Nimoy would have. Lastly, it is NO ONE's business how an individual chooses to grieve. Who are any of these "critics" to judge Shatner? Before my 18th birthday, I'd been to over 50 wakes and 30 funerals. I've seen myriad ways by which people grieve. There is no "one correct way" to do so.

^^^ I tend to agree with you Ovation. Moreover, the only people who should or shouldn't be, 'offended,' are Nimoy's family if he did or didn't attend.

Presumption of fans to draw judgement on celebrities in these circumstances is bizarre and in some cases outright scary the way they react / overreact to these situations.

I watched the UNCLE ep. It was REALLY COOL to see Nimoy & Shat together in something before Trek. And Werner Klemperer was there, too! For he and Shatner, it must have been like a Judgement At Nuremberg reunion.
The Columbo ep was also pretty good.

I really enjoyed the M:I episode they showed. Sadly I fell asleep just a few minutes into the Get Smart episode.

I have been reading how ppl are wondering why Jim did not goto Spocks Funeral....

Im sure Spock knew how much Jim loved him.... He didnt have to be there!!
