Joe Flaherty of Freaks and Geeks and SCTV fame has passed away. I didn't catch Freaks and Geeks as much as I would've liked, but SCTV was and still is, one of my favorite shows of all time and my DVD's of the show are as good as gold. Not too long ago I was watching some of them and I remember thinking that how awesome the SCTV gang was, and just how funny they were, especially Eugene Levy and Joe. Joe will always be Floyd Robertson, Guy Caballero, Sammy Maudlin and of course, Count Floyd to me. All fantastic characters among the many that he played on the show. I wish I had gotten the opportunity to thank Joe for the laughs, smiles and good times. He always seemed like a nice guy in real life and it was great fun watching him and Eugene Levy reminisce about the SCTV days.
Rest In Peace Joe. Thanks for being there and making me laugh in those angsty teenage years when I needed it, and thanks for making laugh again all these decades later when I struggled to find something in the world to smile about.
