RIP JG Ballard

RIP, JG Ballard. :(

He was never one of my favorite writers, though he was a contributor to the New Wave in SF way back when (he was in Dangerous Visions). He was a sad, damaged person. I felt kind of sorry for him. :(

Never cottoned to his stuff much, but I acknowledge he helped shape SF, in his own way.

I don't remember which story was in Dangerous Visions, but I'll pull it out tonight; he deserves that much for his contributions.

Oddly, I don't think I was aware of his contributions to SF - I'd always thought of him as a literary author. I've added him to the list of SF luminaries who have passed away since last July, for inclusion in the In Memoriam reel we show every year at Polaris. (There are quite a few big names on it this year in comparison to past years. :( )
