RIP Gilbert Gottfried

Aw, man. This sucks. I loved his comedy, both stand-up (especially his Roasts) and in TV and film.
Oscar from Night Court comes to mind (another actor from the original show we definitely won't see in the sequel series), but as a Superman fan, to me he was the perfect Mr. Mxyzptlk:

And, of course, he also was Nick Knack on the Superboy TV show:

Goddamit, Norm MacDonald, Bob Saget and now Gilbert. At least he can rest easy knowing he brought Saget to justice for those crimes in 1990.

Yesterday, one of my local radio stations re-ran an interview with Gilbert Gottfried and I have to explain the set-up a bit.

The previous segment, the hosts had been talking about alternatives to toilet paper if you ran out and one of them suggested a Lays potato chip bag as something you could use.

The next segment, Gilbert comes into the studio, ostensibly to promote his stand up show at the local comedy club, and he immediately launches into a bit about wiping your butt with a Lays potato chip bag; and every time the hosts try to steer the conversation back to the show, Gilbert goes back to the potato chip bag.

It was the funniest twenty or so minutes I've ever heard.

If you need a good laugh, check out this 5 minute clip of Gilbert on Hollywood Squares. "You fool!"
