He lost his battle with cancer. RIP Mr. Scott, I really enjoyed you on Sports Center. Very touching tribute to Stuart from his ESPN partner Rich Eisen here. Sorry for the link, but I can never post a video correctly. http://www.brobible.com/sports/arti...-espn-delivers-tearful-goodbye-scott-live-tv/
Scott (well the Scott/Eisen pairing) was the only ESPN anchor I ever liked. I will miss him dearly. I almost started bawling myself while watching Eisen give his tribute. RIP
Seeing the Eisen and Storm bits this morning just wrecked me. Scott's rise to prominence in the mid-90s was when I was really getting aware of sports (in the late '90s, when we were on vacation, all I wanted to do was watch SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight), and this is just so sad. Cancer is an asshole.
^I was really moved by Hannah Storm's announcement of Scott's passing, as it really hit home for me that he's gone after seeing how devastated his friends and colleagues at ESPN are. Forty nine is much too young to die. Cancer sucks. Any form of prolonged illness sucks. Dying and leaving family and friends behind sucks. RIP Stuart. --Sran
I remember coming home from middle and high school back in the day. I watched Batman: The Animated Series first then Sportscenter with Stu most times. If he was on the late shift, I caught him on re-runs the next morning before going to school. Can I get a witness from the congregation?
Haven't watched ESPN much in the last few years so was surprised to hear this. He sure seemed young and fit, maybe even dapper (or cool as the other side of the pillow if you will), hard to believe.
As Timby mentioned. Off the cuff and heartfelt here. [yt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxaJEyiAKGE[/yt] He was different for sure, but he was damn good at what he did and he was unquestionably himself when he did it. He'll be missed by millions and I'm one of them. I loved him on the late ESPN show. I used to stay up just to watch that like I had Saturday Night Live when it was good. Cancer SUCKS. R.I.P.
Stuart Scott and Rich Esien was my favorite sportscenter era. I can't believe Scott is gone and the tributes yesterday and today have been great but sad. It's been pretty much universal love for this man and Eisen and Storm's tributes yesterday really got to me.
Scott Van Pelt had a great show today. I don't know how he got through three hours without breaking down but he was utterly amazing. Rusillo gave him the space he needed to let him reflect and interacted gently when he needed to. ESPN does seem to have a tight nit family and it was great to see other prominent network personalities lend their experiences as well. I grew up with Stuart Scott in the 90's and will always associate him with great memories.
