RIP Elmore Leonard

I haven't read any of his stuff in years, but he's a great writer. May need to run down to the bookstore today at lunch. RIP Mr. Leonard.

I was thinking recently about getting one of his stories. I've enjoyed many of the movies and shows based on his stuff but never actually read them. Any recommendations?

I especially like:
Unknown Man #89
Killshot
Riding The Rap
Freaky Deaky
Maximum Bob
Rum Punch
Get Shorty
Bandits

I admit I've only read a couple of his books, but I've always loved his writing style. It's economical and to the point, and you learn everything you need to about the characters through what they say and do.

Unlike other mystery and suspense writers who will spend two pages describing every object in a room before something happens, or who have to let you know everything a character is thinking and feeling at all times-- which is a sure sign they don't have very interesting characters or much of a story to tell.

^Actually I only read that a couple days ago, but it totally lines up with what I've always noticed about his writing style. I just never realized he actually spelled it all out like that.
