I admit I've only read a couple of his books, but I've always loved his writing style. It's economical and to the point, and you learn everything you need to about the characters through what they say and do.
Unlike other mystery and suspense writers who will spend two pages describing every object in a room before something happens, or who have to let you know everything a character is thinking and feeling at all times-- which is a sure sign they don't have very interesting characters or much of a story to tell.
