RIP Edward Woodward

Gutted to hear about this, the man was an absolute legend and always came across as a top bloke too.

RIP Mr Woodward you shall be missed.

Well that's terrible news. Breaker Morant is one of my favorite films of all time and his performance was absolutely impeccable. It also has a scene which shows off his wonderful tenor voice. Not to mention delivering the immortal line: "We applied rule .303!"

From everything I've ever read of him he was a true professional and a class act. My deepest respects for Mr. Woodward.

A pity. He was great in THE WICKER MAN. (The original, of course. Not the remake.)

And wasn't he Nikita's father on LE FEMME NIKITA?

It was a pleasure watching Edward work with his son Peter in an episode of "Crusade". May he find his way to the Well of Forever.

Well they said he was her father but was that actually confirmed - that was one of the things with Le Femme Nikita - you never really know what true.

Then there was the character story that Robert McCall (The Equalizer - btw nice tip of the hat in The Eugenics Wars :) had be David Callan in another life.

This is a sad one, as I fondly remember The Equalizer. And ironically only a couple weeks ago I discovered they're starting to release Callan to DVD here in North America and I was literally on my way to Amazon when I saw the headline.

He also was a heck of a singer and for awhile actually had a second career pursuing this.

He'll be missed.

Indeed.

Such a shame. Rest in peace.

Another great loss to the world of acting. I remembered him in The Equalizer when it was first shown on TV, and of course caught up with him in "The Wicker Man" in later years.

RIP :(

Loved him in The Wicker Man. Can't say I was a big fan of the Equaliser but he was great in anything he appeared in - even enlivening the dull Crusade (opposite his somewhat less charismatic son).

Shame his last tv role had to be in Eastenders but it won't detract from his consistent brilliance over the years.

I loved watching the Equalizer, and also CI5: The New Professionals while that was on.

He was asked to take on the role of M for the Daniel Craig movies but was too ill.

RIP Edward, the world will miss you.
