RIP comic book artist George Tuska

Out Of My Vulcan Mind

Vice Admiral

Comic book artist George Tuska (whose bio you can read here) has died at the age of 93. He was one of the industry's foremost pencillers, with a career stretching over half a century. He's best known for his long run on Iron Man, which he pencilled for almost a decade from the late 60s to the late 70s. Rest in peace, George Tuska.

RIP, Mr. Tuska. :(

I remember him from all those Marvel back issues I read as a kid, especially on Iron Man. I keep thinking that he always tried to draw a nose on Iron Man's face that made his version stick out but it's been a long time ago.

Oh, boy, sad news. :(

I'm surprised he was 93. That means he was already in his late 50s/early 60s in his heyday at Marvel. Makes sense, though, with such a long career.

When I was a kid, he was THE Iron Man artist, just as Herb Trimpe was THE Hulk artist. A lot of people looked down upon him, but I liked him. He may not have been as flashy as Perez or Buscema, but he was better than a lot of other people, he had an appealing style, he was reliable and totally professional. And he was the only artist that Vince Coletta couldn't destroy.

Another bit of my childhood gone. RIP, Mr Tuska. :(
