i bought a few of issues over the years (i know i had the Star Trek VI issue) along with quite a few Cinefantastiques (which finished a few years back but i think when the head guy died in the early 00s it was never the same after that anyway)

issue 1 of course had the famous TMP cover

Well, that sucks but, it's not surprising.

Starlog's been gone for quite some years, as you mentioned Cinefantasique has been gone a while too. I also have a few of those (mostly older) Cinefex mags in my bookshelf.

About the only - roughly similar - magazine from that era left is Fangoria.

Starburst is still going in UK (albeit a rebooted version after the original died around the time of all the starlogs etc). but there is now a nice magazine called Infinity that deals with all SF retro stuff including Trek every now and then: https://www.prestoimages.net/store30/rd4905/4905_pd3990809_2_infinity_28.jpg

I don't think I've ever seen a copy of Infinity in any bookstores here. I know I have (at least, in the past) seen Starburst.

    Magazines are dead.

We had them sale or return at the shop I work at. Once a month we'd get four Empire's, three Doctor Who Magazines and three of something else.

Then we'd do the return process for four Empire's, three Doctor Who Magazines and three of something else from the previous month which were invariably unsold.

The more I think about this one, the guiltier I feel. I've been buying single issues by web-order for delivery during this past year, but didn't think to take the next step to subscription. A step I think I should have taken.

Not done with print magazines any time soon myself.

The problem of getting them via the newsstands - or at Chapters/Indigo Bookstores - led to my web-ordering habit.

Yes, this is a small-e "evil". I'd like to think this is one that can be remedied.
