Wow, I didn't see that one coming :( Linkin Park was a big part of my life at one point, and I still consider Meteora a near perfect album.
It's awful that he could see no option but to take his own life. Hopefully he is now at peace.

Yeah big shock and bigger shame. I was probably that perfect age of 16/17 when they first appeared and still listen to them now & again to this day. I know them and a lot of bands in that whole nu-metal era/genre are kinda easy to make fun of, but at the end of the day they had tonnes of excellent tracks.

Easily my favourite of theirs-

My daughter is distraught at this point.. Not quite to the level she was when MCR broke up, but she is devastated.. LP was a big part of her musical upbringing.. While I never had as much affinity for them, I certainly appreciated their eclectic mix and vision... Damn... Such sad news... I hope he's found some peace, but I cry for his kids. :(

As someone who suffers with some demons it gets me down when these successful, talented guys do this. What chance does a guy like me have, sigh. (Rhetorical, not fishing for sympathy)

Me neither :(. It's very sad. Condolences to his family and friends.

Same here on my end, I still listen to their stuff occasionally as well.

I never considered myself a fan but I did enjoy their early stuff and LP was a big part of my youth. When I think of my highschool years Numb is definitely part of the background music. This truly saddens me, as someone who has struggled with depression in the past, losing yet another one to it feels devastating every time.:(

Very sad news indeed. I have always had a connection to their music, and I have a lot of powerful memories attached to it. Anyone who could sing such lyrics, with such force and emotion, clearly understood depression and suffering. I hope he knew how many people he helped to pull out of similar situations.
