RIP Andy Fletcher

First Alan White from Yes earlier this week and now Andy Fletcher from Depeche Mode has passed. He was only 60. While I've always been a hard core Prog fan, but developed a real liking for electronic music in college. Depeche Mode was a big part of that. He really was the glue that held the band together.

I 'discovered' Depeche Mode later on - no interest in the style during the 1980's to late 90's. Started paying more attention later.

Sad to be loosing so many talented people is such short order lately.

I just found this out today. Man, Andy was really the quiet business leader of Depeche Mode, the one who would get Dave and Martin together when he thought it was time for a new album and tour, and the one who would represent the band in business meetings, leaving Dave and Martin free to do the music. I recall someone saying forget what you see on stage as "just a keyboard player"--Andy was the glue that held Depeche Mode together and the band would have folded up a long time ago without him.

Rest easy, Andy.
