Ridley Scott directing Forever War

Encouraging news...

The Forever War is one of my favorite books and I'd like to see what they will do with it onscreen.:techman:

I read an article a while back I remember Clancy Brown wanted to be in the inevitable Forever War Movie.....

I hope to more focus more on the war and combat as opposed to the drama side of comeback to earth several hundred years after you left...

So basically remove everything about the story that makes it... well, an actual story? The whole point of the book is the shock of coming back to a changed society.

We can always use more X-Plosions and Boobs!

I was just saying I pefer an action movie to a drama or god forbid a love story...

Then go watch Exploding Tits Ultimate Drift 3, and leave serious fiction alone. And it's not like the actual story lacks sex and violence.

Yeah, anyone expecting 'Starship Troopers' meets 'Black Hawk Down' is in for a shock. The battles in 'Forever War' were almost comically tragic in their futility. If I recall correctly the best 'action scene' in the book actually takes place at an old farm house and has nothing to do with the war itself.

That was one of about half a dozen cool action scenes, and not the best. My favorite was the final battle on that dark planetoid at the end of the book, with the pilot smashing his ship into the ground at near light-speed, causing mass destruction.

It's been a while since I've read the book and I don't recall many details...although the silent bubbles of death and the psychics all going 'pop' in the first battle do stick in the mind somewhat.
