This is part of my issue with Disco in the far future (which overall I like as a concept). They should be cave people in comparison. It’s good fantasy for us that the future would love us (see also Buck Rogers and Demolition Man) but it’s unlikely really.

On the one hand, I agree Disco is overdoing it with primitives from the 23rd century waltzing in and fixing all the modern problems of the 32dn century by bringing the values from the Federation's nobler times in to save the day. On the other, it's not unlike the timecops in Voyager and Enterprise always having to turn to people who are to them like Vikings are to us to fix all their problems. So it's silly, but consistent.

Yeah, time travel and becoming familiar with the current time frame doesn't take much adjustment. Janeway is recruited to aid in capturing a time traveling rogue and she is brought up to speed quickly and sent on a mission.

I remember reading rumors way back, after the cancellation of Enterprise that B&B had planned to do a prequel TOS movie trilogy with Kirk and it would have been about the war with the Klingons. That's was the last thing I read about their involvement until JJ came along. This idea is different to the Romulan War Kirk ancestor idea.
