How sad. He was definitely a memorable performer; he was EVERYWHERE in the 80s.

    RIP.

Wow, too bad. A long time ago my wife and I were talking about old TV shows and she recalled a guy who was always a kind of menacing heavy and was in a lot of shows in the '70s and '80s. She got about one sentence into describing him and I said "Richard Lynch!" The guy was everywhere for a while and unmistakably distinctive. Sorry to hear he's gone

I'm not sure I've really seen him in that many movies, but he was fun in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Gambit."

    RIP.

He was in the original BSG episode Gun On Ice Planet Zero.

Yeah, he always did a really good bad guy.

Any ideas why he just never seemed to hit the big time? He had distinctive looks, was attractive, could act well (loved him as a good guy because it was practically against type), great voice. Everything that was needed. Was it something about him or the stupidity of the industry?

^ Hollywood might well be more about who you know than actual talent.

    Just a theory.

I don't think he has any film credits prior to his accident. (Back in the 60s, he took LSD and set himself on fire.) In his early appearances, he had a much rougher look, so I think he just got type cast as the heavy. He worked pretty consistently (though I was kind of embarrassed for him when I saw this) and even has a couple of things still in post production. I'm curious about the documentary, The Actor, listed on imdb, now.

    ..and the 70s.

As others have noted he was a consummate TV villain.

When I was a kid it seemed like there was a time when Lynch and John Quade were bad guys in everything. Lynch for cool, creepy menace and Quade for obnoxious thugs. Both were in (different) "Galactica 1980" and "Buck Rogers" episodes.

Yeah, I remember him, he was pretty good. When he came on, you know someone was gonna get in deep kaka. A shame. He'll be missed.

Hubby and I were talking about him last night; we both recall that either Lynch or Billy Drago played the bad/creepy guy in all our childhood B-movie memories.

He definitely was a familiar face in my childhood. A really good TV villain.

I always remember him as the titular undead in "Vampire," a made-for-TV pilot that sadly never went to series.

Sad to hear about this. I remember him most from the MST3K-ed werewolf movie... "Werewolf". I got a lot of mileage out of that one during my childhood. It may not be saying much, but he was definitely the best actor involved. Yanaglanche, baby!

Loved him in the horror film Bad Dreams from '88 where, strangely enough, he takes drugs and gets burnt! Art imitating life, l suppose.
