Richard Hatch (BSG, Axanar) Dead at 71

Oh no. :(

I sure will miss him. I loved him in nuBSG. And I must say, I, too, thought he was younger.

Okay, that suck. And it is true, he always seemed younger than that even though Battlestar Galactica was almost 40 years ago. He seemed younger even then.

Something weird going on here... that article is not listed on Bleeding Cool's website, and there is literally no other sites reporting this. There are Twitters from Hatch's friends expressing condolences, but all link to that article above. No sources sited there, and it mentions an 'extended illness' when one of the commenters below states he was at a convention and looking healthy four days ago.

EDIT: OK, TMZ has confirmed it. Pancreatic cancer, went into hospice weeks ago. :wah:

RIP :(

Aww. I saw him at screening of the original BSG movie a couple years back. He seemed like a nice guy. RIP.

Yeah, I was very tentative to report the news to friends until I got a bit more info, but seems like a lost of the cast members knew, and given the closeness of the Galactica Family I'm sure many will have had ways to find the truth before the other media outlets confirmed.

He will be missed.

Oh man, this sucks. I loved him in both Battlestar series, and he was great in Prelude to Axanar.
RIP Mr. Hatch, and thank you for inspiring a young 10 year old Kirby as Captain Apollo.

As always, fuck you cancer.

Holy fucking shit. RICHARD HATCH?!?!? :wah:

Captain Apollo was a hero to me as a child. Walk with the Lords of Kobol, Richard... :(

Damn you cancer,, just go away already & leave us alone.

He really did seem like a very nice guy, and great to the fans. A shame. :(

So say we all.

Ohmigod! I've been a fan of his forever. Ever since "The Streets of San Francisco". RIP, Mr. Hatch . . . the real Captain Apollo.
