According to Trek Canon, Robert April was the first Captain of the Enterprise. He was featured in the animated series and one of the novels. I've always thought it would make a great feature to show the Enterprise maiden voyage with Robert April in command, his wife Sara as the Chief Medical Officer and of course Christopher Pike as a young Lieutenant Junior Grade. Done as a flashback, with Bruce Greenwood telling his story to Anton Yelchin's Chekov. Robert April is an Englishman and I thought Richard Armitage from "The Hobbit" would be a make a great first Captain of the Enterprise- he's got a commanding presence.

The Abramsverse tale of Robert April has already been told in IDW's Countdown to Darkness.

True, but it was nice to see April all the same.

I doubt it. I suspect April will be a recurring character in the comic series and will never be in the movies.
