the doctor is starting over this week . starting with " rose " and then later this week torchwood is starting over. BIG FAN OF both shows . I was wondering how are the books?

There are many Doctor Who novels targeted at many different age groups/fans. Some of the concepts from the novels-and even one novel itself (Human Nature), have been adapted for the new series, in fact.

There are hundreds of novels out there featuring all 11 Doctors, but in this context I assume you refer to the recent novels based on the current Doctors.

I've only read a few of them. For the most part they're paced pretty much the same as the series, and are pretty good. There was one (The Monsters Inside) which is actually referenced in the "Boom Town" episode, which was the first time that had happened. The "Human Nature" novel was published in the 1990s and was re-adapted for the series (it was originally a Seventh Doctor novel). Russell T Davies also wrote a Doctor Who novel, Damaged Goods, back in the mid-90s as well.

I'm currently reading Michael Moorcock's much-ballyhooed Doctor Who novel, The Coming of the Terraphiles, (features the Eleventh Doctor and Amy) but I'm actually finding it a bit dry and uninteresting.

I just finished reading my first DW book. It was The Glamour Chase, and I loved it! I'd love to have the author write an episode of the series.

I particularly enjoyed the Rory-centricness of the novel. I love me some Rory!

That'd be cool.

I got The Glamour Chase at our local Borders, which is having its closing sale. I've also managed to grab the Brilliant Book of Doctor Who, the SFX Doctor Who special issue that includes a bowtie and buttons, and the January issue of DWM. I'm still trying to believe my luck in finding so much awesome DW stuff in my local store here in little old Springfield, MO, USA.

Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy the other two DW novels that had been with the one I bought; they weren't there the next time I went. I debated getting the Moorcock novel, but it was a lot more expensive than the smaller-sized DW novels.
