Rev - BBC Two

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
Has anybody else been watching the BBC Two comedy Rev? About an inner London Church of England Vicar played by Tom Hollander, struggling to attract a bigger congregation and keep his current flock happy.

I'm quite enjoying it, there's been some really fun episodes so far, and the whole series is currently on iPlayer to catch up if anyone else is interested.

I saw the first two eps but it just did not grab me.
Until the big bang comes back I'm getting my laughs from watching yes minister it's the first time I have watched it.

Rev is brilliant. It's nicely subtle and understated and has a nice mix of gloom and upbeat scenes and characters. The Archdeacon is fantastic. It's got to be a plus to see religion portrayed in a comic and pleasant light for once as well.

The whole thing reminds me a bit of Lead Balloon, which is also brilliant.

I must say I've rather come to like it too - I suppose Father Ted is the inevitable comedy to compare it to, but it's quite a bit more understated (to repeat a word). Not wholly in a different vein though. The whole thing about "going to Rome" in episode I found particularly amusing - Tom Hollander's monologue whilst waving the censer was hilarious.

It helps that I quite like both Miles Jupp and Olivia Coleman too.
