A good story which starts up as promising for the chances for the crew to go home. But as it is only season one, we all know that the twist in the tale will come and it comes in an unexpected way. Kes is great to watch in her concerns about The Doctor.

I'll give it 4 points out of 5

My favourite of the early episodes.

It should have come later in the season (probably in season 2) to give it a greater impact. By this point, getting home shouldn't be on their minds in quite the same way as it is. The first season should have been about accepting their long journey home rather than anticipating its imminent end. Totally agree about Kes. Why is she so eager to get to Earth like it's anything other than some planet she's never been to.

Yet more evidence in this episode that the Maquis couldn't care less about the Maquis. They basically just do what they're told and accept whatever Starfleet crap is coming their way

At the time it aired, I had been wondering what Vaughn Armstrong looked like since TNG: Heart of Glory, and this was the closest look at his real face after that.

I don't remember that as I'm not an avid TNG watcher, but what about that episode where he's linked? Survival Instinct. Or still no?
