Well, Capcom said a while ago that Resident Evil 5 would be the last Resident Evil game in the current timeline we have now. Resident Evil 6 would be a complete reboot of the series.
So I was wondering, what exactly can Capcom do to make a Resident Evil game fresh? They can't go back YET AGAIN and remake the original game, just with Resident Evil 4 and 5's style of play. So with a reboot, I'd expect a brand new game, but currently we have the film's version of the events, and the games version of events, I don't really see how they can restart the Resident Evil franchise. I don't see why they just don't make Resident Evil 6, and have Barry and 'Becca as the main characters! (I got a soft spot for both).
Now, I've been playing through House of the Dead: Overkill with my friend, and it's honestly one of the best games I've ever played. Obviously the graphics aren't great, but the dialogue and overall gameplay is excellent. If Sega can bring out a game that is that good, why can't Capcom? They're just recycling idea's over and over again.
I'm not saying Resident Evil 5 isn't a great game, I loved every second of it. I'm saying the Umbrella Chronicles and now this new one... awful. I'm a MASSIVE Resident Evil fan, and I've played (I think) every Resident Evil game to date, and Capcom HAVEN'T explained everything. They said Resident Evil 5 will tie up loose ends. What happened to Barry? What about 'Becca? Did they survive the outbreak? What about Ada, she was aiding Wesker all this time, so what happened to her?
I just feel theres more to tell in the series, and, at the moment, doesn't need a reboot.
Thoughts? I know theres a few big Resident Evil fans here.
