Resident Evil - The Games

I want to talk about these sweet, wonderful, beautiful games, anyone else?

I've been on a kick and playing them over the last month. I rehooked up my gamecube just to play them and I've had no life since. :p

But seriously, I really wanted to go back and play through them again and get myself ready for 5, which I picked up late because I was busy.

I love these games, I really do, as soon as I can find Veronica for Gamecube, I'll be a happy happy person!

You a fan of the series? Do you love killing zombies as much as I do? Which one's your favorite game in the series? Who's your favorite character? Are you playing RE5?

I'm probably the sterotypical answer with Chris Redfield followed by Jill, love them both and Chris is your typical "big damn hero" type guy.

I've been playing the hell out of RE4 and fooling around with 5, goofing around, unlocking stuff practicing, trying for achievements (Fucking "Lead Aspirin!!") I haven't done a full run through on veteran yet.

But ya, I know there are a bunch of Resident Evil fans here, let's shoot the shit.

I'm a bit drunk, so I'm sorry if I rambled.

I've only ever played the Gamecube remake of the original, and RE4: Wii Edition. I really liked the original, which is why I got 4 in the first place. And I loved 4 even more than I did that one.:techman:

*waves hand* uber resident evil fan here. I've been a fan since the very beginning, of the franchise. Resident Evil and Command and Conquer are the oldest game franchise to claim that distinction :D If I had to choose a favorite it would probably be the remake of the first game, though I love them all. I would say that RE5 is a close second since it brings back the characters which define RE for me; Chris, Jill, and Wesker. I also recently began going through all the games again. Unfortunately some real life stuff has put that journey on hold, but I look forward to going to back to it sometime soon

I'm really loving RE5 for the same reason. It really feels like it's back to the good old days with Chris, Jill, and Wesker, who by the way, is just as awesome and evil as ever!

I've been a fan since about 98/99 when I got RE2 director's cut for playstation.

And count me as one of the people who's extremely against the idea they're tossing around of rebooting the whole thing. I think that would be a travesty.

While I really dig 4 and 5 as shooters, I don't want to see the others turned into them. They belong as scary as hell survival/horror games

Since I'm a completist, I've been trying to trackdown Code Veronica for Gamecube as it's the only one I don't have for it and I really want to complete my collection.

BTW, clint, since you're big into RE5, how do I unlock Chris' S.T.A.R.S. uniform? I get it by beating veteran or getting the BSAA emblems? (which I'm having a lot of trouble tracking down, I think I'd got about 5 as of now, but only been playing the game for about a week)

And, have you gotten the "Lead Aspirin" achievement? The blowing off a zombies head while he's jumping at you? I think it's the last fighting achievement I have left, besides stabbing in the heart and building trust.

This is one of the few games where I really want to get every achievement ingame, probably since I'm such a huge RE fan.

Oh yeah. Huge Resident Evil fan here. I love 4 and 5, but I really would love to see the series return to more exploration, puzzle solving roots. There was a real sense of suspense and often terror there. You could only carry so much at a time, ammo was scarce, and enemies took a lot of it to go down. It forced you to think on your toes, and plan ahead at the same time. Nowadays, the series is kind of a generic action series.

Wesker turns into a creature and is killed.

I enjoyed the games and, I'm going to probably get tormented for this, I'm also one of the people that likes the movies.

I am a bonafide full-blooded true Resident Evil fanboy. These games are the reason I own a Gamecube. I bought it and all of the Resident Evil games all in one swoop. I liked the movies (all three live action and the recent animated one), all of the games, and have even read all of the books including the novelizations of the movies. Seriously this series can do no wrong in my book. Well, OK there is one small thing and that being it's control scheme prior to RE4 was kinda terrible but all things considered I can forgive that for those games.

Just talking about this right now is making me want to go downstairs, turn off all the lights and play one of them.

These two are pretty great, but I think my favorite was RE2. Having the option to play the game from the other side was pretty sweet.

Ya, don't get me started on that level, I couldn't figure out what to do for the longest time and kept dying.

As for the actual spoiler, ya, I'm pretty mixed on it. But the voice actor was fucking great!

And count me as another one who loves the movies

I'm almost positive you get it by shooting the emblems. Unfortunately I don't have my copy of the game on hand so I can't check right now

Another big fan of Resident Evil here, have been since Resident Evil 2 which i somehow played first. Number 2 is also, coincidently, my favourite of the series with Leon and Claire my favourite characters. I also collect the various merchandise, with my prized possession being an Umbrella umbrella.

Not so much a fan of the films, bar Degeneration, although i own them just to have them in my collection.

As for the idea of 6 being a reboot, it depends what they mean by reboot. If its a gameplay reboot, where they revolutionise the controls again ala Resi 4, with a new story starting then great. If its just going to be a rehash of the original story, with things arbitrarily changed i wont be so keen.

I love RE5. Only game I've ever played on the whole RE series.

Great stories. A bit over acted but I do like it.

Love em completed Resident Evil 5 with a friend we did all 50 achievements though am not going to bother with the lame DLC. I played RES 4 on a friends Wii and completed it loved it too and such a difference between the two games in how they use old n new styles.

I was an N64 person so I never played the Playstation versions. I did rent the Gamecube remake of Resident Evil and I'm glad I only rented it, I hated the gameplay and only played it for about half an hour.

I eventually bought the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 4 for $10 after it got tons of praise and people were talking about how different it was from the main series. I couldn't believe how amazing it was and Resident Evil 4 is in my top 5 favorite games of all time. I even rebought the superior Wii version the day it came out.

I also picked up Resident Evil 5 the day it came out, and while it was a little disapointing compared to RE4 (gameplay didn't feel quite as good, I didn't like the setting quite as much, and it didn't have any super cheesy lines that I loved from RE4) but I still found it to be pretty enjoyable.

Personally I hope to see a new game on the Wii using the same RE4 style gameplay and cheesy dialog. After playing RE4 Wii Edition the controls in RE5 just felt like a step backwards.

I'm a huge fan and I come complete with games, books and various collectibles. =P
My favorite character is Albert Wesker (the Gul Dukat of survival horror) and Alfred Ashford. Favorite game is probably a threeway tie bewteen 3, CVX and 4, but ultimately I might have to go with 3 because that's the first game I played in the series and I fell in love head over heels.

I need to get my poop together and move on to the next gen consoles so I can try RE 5 and get the remake for GC to the Wii.

Good to see some RE fans here! The only other forum I frequent happens to be a RE forum. :techman:

Resident Evil 2 remains one of my favourite ever games. It's the only one that actually scared me too, with the little things like falling through the floor in the library. And the Tyrant 103 was brilliant. The whole A/B mission set-up with the two discs was inspired, and the variation between Claire and Leon's weaponry was very interesting too, even if Claire did get lumbered with that rubbish electric cattle prod. The only thing I never did on that game was the Tofu mission, despite playing it into the ground.

1 was pretty awesome too, and I still get a lot of enjoyment from going on 3 with my infinite gat-gun and 4 with my Chicago typewriter for mindless zombie-hunting brainblasting carnage fun.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Resident Evil games, I've made a point to bash the dreadful films at every opportunity. I've been a fan of the RE series ever since I played the very first game around my sisters then-boyfriends house, and I was absolutely hooked from then on.

I loved Resident Evil 5, but I still don't think it's better than Resident Evil 2/3, I absolutely loved those games, and still play through them regularly. I liked it a lot mainly because it seemed to combine the new RE4 type of gameplay with good old classic RE storylines and good ole fashion running around with little ammo.

Favorite character? Leon. The reason why I like him is that Chris annoys me sometimes, I always feel like I'm playing a character who someone somewhere who created him is just creating what they in vision a stereotypical American male to be like, and deep down, what they want to be like as well. Leon always reminded me of the complete opposite, he's can be a prick if he needs to be, and only really cares about the job at hand, not to mention the sarcasm. That's the impression I got from Degeneration and RE4 anyway.

Oh and JonathonWally, the way you get the S.T.A.R.S. outfit for Chris is you need to have completed the game, and collected 25 of the emblems. Also I'm a little disappointed you liked the movies :(.

been playing the resi games since they first came out mainly the play station versions. been trying to find the ds version but its a pretty old game so I've been told so i haven't played it yet.

my best version would be resi 3, cause it has my favourite character in it. jill valentine, though I have to admit resi four was ok. played resi five ut to me it wasn't really the same as the others, it didn't have the same feel to it.

I spent the past couple days going through trying to get all the achievements . Only got a handful left mainly the time consuming ones or the really hard ones. Need to do the game on Pro, which I'm not looking forward too, need to upgrade the rest of the guns and get an S on a few more chapters.

One of the few games I really want to get all the achievements on.

I've pretty much got all the achievements in the game except for that stupid one where you have to knife an arrow out of the air. I truly don't have the patience for that lol.

One thing that I would like to see in future resident evil games is a merger of the RE1 type of of atmosphere with the gunplay/co-op of RE5 and the item management of RE4 lol
