Gotta admit, even by this franchise's very hit-or-miss standards, I'm surprised at the utter lack of buzz surrounding this soon-to-debut series. Said to be canon with the video games, bouncing back-and-forth between the present day and a post-apocalyptic 2036, and centering around a character we last saw in the games melting into lava as a mutated monster - and his children. :wtf: No sign of any of the video game series regulars so far (and probably just as well, considering the future setting). The YT comments to the video posted above... yeahhhh. Brutal.

On the admittedly off chance that this isn't as DOA as the last non-Milla Jovovich movie attempt, I figured it was worth a thread here. If only for flaming and trolling purposes.

Wow, another apocalypse caused by well-intentioned eco-activists.

Why Hollywood hate so much this particular category? Even Muslim terrorists in the movies cause so much damage!

It came. It went. It was noticed by practically no one.

Question: Was I talking about this series, the movie reboot from the end of last year or the CGI series from last year?

Answer: Trick question. It was all of them!

Resident Evil cannot be adapted properly. Filmmakers end up making far too many changes, and end up losing the energy and creep factor that some of the games have in great quantities.

I just got done with the series. It started slow, but by the end, I was fully engaged. I hope they pick it up for a second season.

I never played the games, but I was a fan of the movie series. While this was completely different. I didn't mind the way it unfolded at all.

I really enjoyed the series. Granted I'm not the biggest RE game fan either, just know the history from some over-enthusiastic friends. Really liked it.

This show is mediocre. Just mediocre, not "worst show of all time" as IMDB says it is. That's just internet piling on.

I am watching the show, and the only problem is that its so mediocre that I forger that I have more episodes to watch for a few weeks, and then I go back and continue to be mildly entertained for an hour.

6/10 show IMO not 3/10 as IMDB has.

I think the best way to make a Resident Evil is to cut down on the camp. Umbrella Corporation has a lab leak, it leads to zombie apocalypse, with a few zombies mutating into full on monsters. Then some people just survive in that world. The whole Umbrella continues to be a major force in the post apocalypse world thing doesn't translate to film because its stupid.

Or if Umbrella does stay a major force its because they have their own city where everyone got the cure or something like that. No need for all these evil machinations post apocalypse.

I never got into the games so I don't know the lore beyond what was in the terrible movies so as someone with no attachment, I actually kinda liked it:shrug:

Especially the past stuff - well, except for the
Lance Reddick as an over the top Blade twist
. The future stuff was a little dull, and grown up Billie was a terrible performance but even with it I found stuff I liked - like
Fat John Wick - RIP
.

It was a pleasant enough surprise.

Oh, absolutely agree on your first spoiler being OTT:D

Any idea why IMDB hates it THIS much? I am not seeing it... is it just because its different from the games?

My guess would be review bombing from the games fans. It's ridiculously low on RT too, especially compared to the critical reception which is still bad but not nearly as bad.

Yeah the critical reception is just about right. The user score is over the top.

The smartest thing the coming Resident Evil 9 (slated for after the remake of 4) can do is completely ignore the Netflix series.

I enjoyed it until the part that
she brings a zombie on board against the rules, and gets someone killed

Dumb main character syndrome.

Oh the characters were DUUUUUMMMMBBBBB but I loved Fat John Wick and I really enjoyed the half that took past in the half - although Lance Reddick went a little overboard at the end....
