Rename the Novelverse (in-universe)

F. King Daniel

While "Novelverse" is a perfect term for us to use in describing the past decades of Trek novel continuity, and to the people living inside it it's "Prime universe", I'm curious what would be a good in-universe name for it from a perspective outside that timeline? The Okudas coined "Kelvin timeline" for the events of the reboot movie continuity, owing to the divergence point more or less being the Narada's attack on the USS Kelvin in 2233. It works pretty well as an in-universe name from the perspective of the Encyclopedia writers.

I've heard it referred to as the "Destiny timeline" before, but that takes it's name from the novel trilogy and thus wouldn't work as an in-universe name. "Borg Incursion timeline"? "Janeway timeline" (owing to it being the only timeline with a surviving Kathryn Janeway, as per The Eternal Tide)? "Avatar timeline" (ties into the start of the DS9 relaunch in name and the Avatar itself which IRL at least is unique to the novels' version of post-DS9 continuity)?

Maybe Caeliar timeline? If we take the Borg's "demise" in 2381 as one of the major points of divergence and assume that no other version of Trek will go with the Destiny origin that seems like a fitting name.

I like the Janeway timeline because it makes sense. Who or What's the Avatar in DS9: Avatar?

And extending the thought further - is there a real-life designation for our timeline?

Does Janeway Timeline make sense out of universe though? Does Janeway live a long life in the STO continuity?

Ideally it seems the name should make sense both in and out of universe. That's why Kelvin Timeline sounds good. So if Janeway Timeline doesn't make sense in real life, it doesn't sound like the right choice to me, enen though it's the most accurate title in universe.

Why is that confusing? Appears straightforward enough to me.
Marvel's "real life world" is Earth-1218... By the way, in 2015 our whole universe was destroyed because alterna-Earth crashed into ours and thereby erasing the whole universe, but Mr. Fantastic reverted everything back to normal.

According to DC Comics, Earth-Prime. (Confusingly enough.)

In the context of the current discussion, where there's also a "Prime Timeline" that is a completely different thing.

Well, according to DC, the entire multiverse bar four Earths (which were merged into one) was destroyed in 1985. It came back during the Infinite Crisis in 2006. So we didn't exist for about twenty years! But since it was restored with a complete history, we wouldn't have a way of knowing that.

According to Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds, an evil version Superboy was trapped on Earth-Prime, able to do nothing more than troll on DC Comics message boards. I wonder if he's still here. Also according to Legion of 3 Worlds, in the 31st century, our Earth will give rise to an incarnation of the Legion of Super-Heroes, so we have that to look forward to.

Wait, so it's actually already already 2038? Crap, I missed like 2000 hours of school. That's going to look terrible on my record!!

to the people living inside it it's "Prime universe"

To the people living inside it, *every* universe is "Prime universe"!

I don't see why we would even need one?

To answer the OP's question, in-universe it's probably something along the lines of "Quantum Signature 3824-9348-8983-8238-1393-0023-4939-2812-2930-1838-1093". But since I just read Headlong Flight, I think I'm just gonna go with "Here".
