I’m not sure how that could work now. The original came when you could do a show like that aimed at kids. So either they’ll tone it down, or they’ll target adults and hand it to someone who thinks it was only about potty humor and not the absurdity and sardonic parody.

The original show was more tuned toward adults than children - until they took it away from Kricfalusi. Then it got toned down (and dumbed down) so much it just kinda faded away.

Even though I wasn't a big fan of most modern animated TV, I found the original Kricfalusi episodes to be very surreal and often extremely funny.

It was on Nickelodeon in the same block as Rugrats and Ahh, Real Monsters.

All the poop and bodily fluid jokes were distinctly meant for children, just maybe preteens instead of younger children. The helicopter parents just got so powerful since then they’ve deemed any counterculture satire inappropriate topics for any children’s entertainment, prosocial messages only.

Which is the trouble for reboots, the show’s current audience has outgrown poop jokes.

Would much rather see Rugrats come back. To me, it had a similar appeal as Muppet Babies.

I remember the original show being kinda disgusting. I'm not sure how you can do a show like that now.

I wasn't allowed to watch this as a child. I pay my own bills now, so take that, Mom!

I don't think I heard about that... Very disturbing - may also explain some of the very weird stuff in some of his cartoons.

If I could pick one Nick cartoon to come back it’d be Rocko’s Modern Life.

As a kid, I always got the sense that R&S was supposed to be for adolescents older than myself.

Yeah.. I didn't know about that either. That sucks, because he's the only one who could really write the series well.

It was brought back a few years ago, and was a disaster. They went full on gross-out in every episode, and left all the cleverness of the original behind. When Krisfalusi left the first time during the original run, the show was dumbed down to the point it became unwatchable. When they revived it, it seems like the powers that be felt that if they ramped up the gross aspects, that would bring us back. I gave it one episode and it was so bad I couldn't watch it again.

Oh, I meant Rocko's Modern Life. I knew Ren & Stimpy had come back, but never watched that one, because come to think of it, I remember hearing how bad it was. But Rocko's Modern Life, I could have sworn had a recent revival.

I remember this show being a big hit with a lot of the guys at my workplace in the 90s. I watched a few episodes, but for some reason I just never “got” it. I was more of a Simpsons/South Park/Beavis and Butthead fan at the time.

I’ve never seen the show, but I remember my friends and I playing the Sega Genesis game.

Come on boys and girls! Let's sing the Happy Happy Joy Joy song!

These things make the coolest noises!

It's log, it's log! For fun it's a wonderful toy!

Yeah - a bit strange and weird and twisted and maybe even a bit perve.... Let's not go there...

Just don’t whiz on the electric fence.

They tried to bring the show back a few years ago and... no sir, I don’t like it.
