REMINDER: City of Heroes/City of Villains

For those of you who play City of Heroes/City of Villains MMO, "Double XP Weekend" starts today! It runs from 07/31 through 08/02/09. I guess I'll be busy leveling up my Ice/Storm Controller on the Virtue server. I've been playing this toon for a couple of weeks and have been amazed at how fast it's reached Level 34, mostly due to the different teams I've been playing with. This is no small accomplishment for me, as I've had several toons that took many months or years before they reached the 20s and 30s level, many of which I already deleted from different servers. I'm a veteran player of almost 60 months and have never had a character reach Level 50.

So this is going to be fun!

I gave up on that game after 4.5 years of play after having started the day of release. I too never reached max level. Sign of a bad game: when a solo player cannot reach max level within a year. And I played alot.

I do miss the costume creation when creating a character though. It was the best part of the game.

Champions Online starts Sept. 1 I expect any remaining CoX players to bail and go there, myself included.

I agree with you. There's a lot of grindage involved in CoH/CoV. What's so frustrating is when I do solo missions. I can't land a single freaking hit most of the time, and there are tons of bad guys to defeat, most of which are a bit higher in level (although the difficulty level is on Heroic). The game is definitely not solo-friendly. With its MMO scope, it's better played with other gamers (if you can find them in the first place, the two most popular servers being Freedom and Virtue); that way, you can try for a higher diff level more experience (XP) points.

I am eagerly awaiting the releases of DC Universe On-line and Star Trek On-line.

I loved CoH/CoV but just had to give it up. It was so hard to find enough people for a decent team on Triumph server. But my time playing Blasterina and Diabolica up to 50 was great. I had far more fun with these than World Of Warcraft ever provided.
