Remember the description of Dilithium in How Much For Just The Planet?

Personally I was a little aggrieved with the TNG technical manual when it offered a rather conventional looking chemical formula for Dilithium. In How Much For Just The Planet by John M Ford, the theory presented was that dilithium was a four dimensional form of lithium, with its molecular structure stretching not only in space, but in time as well.

It's why it appears to be the hardest substance known, but to easily fracture a crystal, you need to apply a force last week, today, and next week as well...

Anyway... from fiction to scientific theory...

A four dimensional crystal to keep time for an eternal clock...

Remember Jim Kirk asking 'why' God needed a starship in Star Trek V?

If no one is around, who needs to count time? ;)

IIRC, the Reeves-Stevens used the same description of dilithium in their novels. I liked it.

I'm sure god would appreciate a stylish timepiece :)
