Regular version vs IMAX

I haven't seen the regular version. I've seen the IMAX version twice, and I wouldn't go back unless there was no choice.

I hope it comes out on blu-ray sooner rather than later so we can see it at home.

It's well worth the $3 more to see it (and hear it) in an IMAX theater. Movies are supposed to be big, and IMAX lets you see details you're just going to miss at the average multiplex that has a screen not much bigger than your living room TV

IMAX was MUCH better. The ships just felt like they had more heft and the sound just rocked. The movie was no slouch in normal either 8)

IMAX. The sound is much better, just don't sit too close to the screen as it can be difficult following the motion of a lot of the fast moving scenes. I was about a third of the way back and I would say it was a bit close. Try for three quarters back.

And make sure you arrive early to get such seats ;) I didn't, and I wound up being in the first quarter all the way to the right. The movie still rocked though, but it would have been even better if I was centered more

Has anyone seen it in an IMAX Domed theater? I did, and it got a little annoying, because it was SO big and you had to physically move to follow the action.

I saw it first on IMAX and I must say it was very impressive, the ships were so big and so close it was like you were sat in a shuttle watching the action.

The detail was a little worrying with the characters you could see the individual pores on thier faces.

Seeing the film for a second time on a normal screen just wasnt the same, I think I spoiled myself by watching it on IMAX first.

Don't sit near the front or at the side.

If we'd arrived earlier we'd have got better seats.

Sounded good though!

just came back from an AMC "IMAX experience" upgrade. The screens were already huge but the big difference was the digital projection. Totally perfect BUT most of the new AMC theaters in my area are already digital with great sound systems so it wasn't like above and beyond what I'm already used to. It is a big huge step above film projection though.

Empire cinema, Leicester square, London. Better than any IMAX screening, trust me.

Digital projection, THX surround sound, 1300 seats.

I have only seen it in a normal theater, but it is a relatively new theater with a big screen and THX sound system, so it was pretty darned good.

I thought the best part was Spock's mind-meld montage with Kirk, where his voice is echoing all around the sides and rear of the theater. Movies seldom take advantage of 3-D sound like that.

I saw it first on IMAX and then on regular screen, and by far the IMAX version blows in both video and sound quality, plus a much larger screen real estate to view the movie on!!

Just got back from my second IMAX showing n got my perfect seats for this showing (tho 75% sold out @ 12:30 on mother's day isn't bad).

My Mom and Dad loved it. Nuff said.
Dad: They finally made one I liked as much as the Khan one.
Mom: Nu-Spock was just so perfectly cast, but I liked seeing old Spock better.

//I need to make more Trek friends to go see it in IMAX @ least two more times.
