Reg Barclay

Resnam

Cadet
Newbie
I am wondering how Reg Barclay knew Nelix's name as he had never met him but had reproduced Voyager in a Holo Suite. Did I miss something?

^ I would imagine the EMH had a lot of information he could pass on to Starfleet HQ in Message in a Bottle. And although he only had a few hours, being a computer program himself, he probably could transfer the bulk of such information far more efficiently than just by talking (i.e. by uploading it directly into the Federation databases)... including visual and other records about Neelix.

Barclay's information was limited, and dated. That's why his holo-Maquis still wore their leathers, Janeway still had the Bun of Steel, and Paris (an ensign at the time) was still a lieutenant.

Thanks for the thoughts. If the EMH uploaded information about Voyager and its crew and got Nelix right how come he didn't update the marquis to Starfleet and Janway's hair style.

In-universe Answer: Because the EMH didn't put everything in his report.
IRL Answer: Because it wouldn't have been as funny/interesting/memorable.

Maybe a subjective view into the Doctor's subconscious :D

Why didn't Barclay know about the Borg? Why was the Borg queen killed twice. Once by Picard and Data and once more by Admiral Janeway.

The Borg queen is a manifestation of the entire Borg collective, or something like that. Apparently the Borg queen's "consciousness" as an entity transcends whatever physical body is being used at the time as an "avatar" for the queen. Star Trek: First Contact retroactively establishes that the Borg Queen was at Wolf 359, and Picard assumed that she died at that time because "that ship and all the Borg on it were destroyed." Her response to Picard was, "You think in such three-dimensional terms. How small you've become." So that makes three confirmed times when the Borg Queen was "killed." She's probably still out there somewhere even after VOY "Endgame."
