Reference to "Vertigo" (1958) in S4E7 "Scientific Method?"

I'm watching VOY for the first time (in order) and I saw this episode tonight. I couldn't help thinking of Hitchcock's film Vertigo when they first show the Doctor in Holodeck 2 as he instructs the model, Carlotta, on her pose. A painting of Carlotta Valdes figures prominently in Vertigo . The painting depicts Carlotta as seated and holding a small bouquet (almost identical to the VOY episode). Am I reading too much into this?

Similarly, according to Memory Alpha, in VOY S4E5, Revulsion , the character of Dejaren, the isomorph, has lines which reference the Hitchcock film Psycho . I found this interesting. Can anybody explain the sudden Hitchcock references?

I recently watched "Vertigo"... or tried to... I found it a horribly plodding, boring film.

After an hour, I deleted it from my Tivo. (Yes, I am aware of its many awards).

Kieran, I felt the same way about the film when I was younger. As a kid, I just remember it being LONG, but it still gave me the creeps. I can't say I've seen it all the way through, so it is on my list of films to see again. We'll see if it zings me then...
