What podcasts do you listen to regularly? What are the ones you recommend?

I've found a great way to pass the time when typing long projects is to listen to various podcasts, and I'm looking for something new. Here's what I listen to currently ...

Long time - The Babylon Podcast, Slice of Sci Fi, Dragon Page, Doctor Who official podcast

Occasionally I'll add the CNN and a few other news brief podcasts

In the last week, I've also sampled Dragon in Georgia (good), Friday Night Comedy from BBC4 (meh), Galactica Watercooler (ok if they'd stay on topic), Onion Radio News (love it), WhatTheCast? (um, not sure yet), Jump the Pod (also not sure).

I also tried a few others that just did NOT work for me. One was supposedly stand up comedy from Omaha ... horrible. Another one was "Gay Pimpin' with Jonny McGovern" ... It was simply dreadful. Four gay people - one lesbian, two typical gay queens and one who thought he was a she named Linda (wonder if he's one of that l.i.n.d.a. lot?) ... all they did for five minutes was sit around and shriek/scream.

Extra Life Radio - 3 web cartoonists (mostly), one from SC, one from AZ and one from Colombia talk (mostly) about anything and everything in geekdom, some profanity, the periodic "poop story / joke". All in all entertaining.

Infendo Radio - A 'cast dedicated to Nintendo

RDM's Battlestar Galactica podcast

Treks in Sci Fi - a Star Trek, Star Wars, general Sci Fi podcast with a collectible review at the end of each show.

The Signal - 100% Firefly

Geekshow Buffcast, Angelcast and Meteor Freak - these are archived shows, episode by episode synopsis and discussion. Mostly good.

Radio serials, series and anthologies
Pendant Productions - Superman: Last Son of Krypton, Super Girl: Lost Daughter of Krypton, Wonder Woman: Champion of Themyscira. New production, the voice talent ranges from pretty damned good to embarrassing. They also have a James Bond, Indiana Jones and Batman serial.

Old time stuff
Dragnet - Yeah, that Dragnet. Jack Webb created it as a radio drama first.
X Minus One - sci fi anthology
Tom Corbett, Space Cadet and Space Patrol from the 50's.

I listen to Slice of SciFi one in a while. The Babylon Podcast got a bit too much when they let the dudes do their own radio play... maybe I should go back to it.

The majority of what I listen to are gaming podcasts, so I don't know if you'd be interested. GFW Radio and CAGCast are definitely the highlights.

DVDWeekly is a good show that sums up the week's releases.
Filmspotting is a good film review show that is also meant to introduce you to older films you may not have thought of.

I also listen to a few tech podcasts just to keep up on the news. Buzz Out Loud and TWiT.
My comic book podcast is iFanboy.
And there's Kevin Smith's podcast, SModcast, which is good for laughs.

Right now, I'm going through the archives of Star Wars Action News. It's a husband-and-wife show that talks about just about every Star Wars product line out there. The banter and interaction with listeners is still good after 67 episodes, and I am looking forward to hearing the next 75-80 episodes to get caught up.

Yeah, I was a loud enough voice against it that they finally listened and spun off that idiotic segment into its own show "Voices of Babylon". It has its own website, and those who enjoy it can download it separately. I am not among them. It's been gone for a few months, at least.

I don't really know what might strike my fancy. I'm open to new things, and we finally just got a Wii, so ya never know. :D

Now that sounds like a good one ... I wonder if Vash ... er, PK something knows about this one?

Thanks!

I've got a whole slew of them...

RDM's BSG podcast
Pardon the Interruption (ESPN)
Filmspotting
IGN DigiGods
Savage Love
This American Life
Countdown with Keith Olbermann
DVD Marquee

I think there's more, but I can't remember them for the life of me. :(

Excellent ... They have a Tom Corbett podcast? Is it people commenting on it, or continuing radio plays, or reruns of the originals?

Banter is good, if it doesn't consume the whole show ... That was the problem with a few of the shows I sampled, it was all banter, no content, like it was done for just the people recording and forget the people listening.

btw, my condolences ... I see you've read Personal Agendas. I think it was the shittiest B5 thing ever written. You've read it, you can't unread it. Fortunately, you're reading To Dream now, which is one of the best of the novels.

In this case, I just mean that the team is fun to listen to as they discuss the figures, books, and other collectibles. There's definitely good content to be heard.

OT: I really enjoyed Personal Agendas. It was a fun little jaunt with the characters, and we got to see more of Vir. The fourth through the sixth books were tough to force myself to read, so it was a breath of fresh air. I'm about halfway through To Dream in the City of Sorrows, and it is a treat for this Sinclair fan. I only wish that we had a whole book about his life 1,000 years in the past.

Make It So is an excellent and very funny Star Trek podcast and Movies You Should See done by the people who do Make It So, is also a lot of fun.

Brill and Eric Watch TV has a lot of information about TV. Brill is the managing editor and TV critic for Zap2it, and Eric is a guy I went to college with. They have a great conversational style, and a lot of insider knowledge about TV.

Manager Tools - Anyone who is in the buisness world would benefit from this podcast. These guys are great, and offer very good, no-nonsense advise about how to lead people.

I listen to the BSG podcast, a podcast called Stolen Moments, which relates to Silent Film in general and Rudolph Valentino in particular, and two history podcasts - one on Byzantine History and another that is more ongoing called History According to Bob, or something like that.

This week in tech

This week in windows

Guardian Unlimited Media talk

Ones I listen to:

Fear the Boot - A pen and paper RPG podcast, great guys with a great show. It's about RPGs as a hobby, not a review show or what not. Really worth a listen.

Game Theory - Video gaming podcast, looking more at the gaming industry than the games themselves. Another of my favs.

Mac OS Ken - Daily news about Apple. 10 mins each day, tells you all the stuff worth knowing. Beat reading loads of blogs and stuff my self.

This Week In Tech - Everyone should be listening to this one, Leo and his gang talk about tech for an hour or so each week. I also listen to others on the TWiT network, like MacBreak Weekly.

WoW Radio - It's about World or Warcraft. A fun show, but not the best at time.

Galactica Watercooler - A show on nuBSG, really great to listen to. They do a lot more than BSG though (forced by the crappy TV people), but it's still all great. Discussions of each new episode when it comes out, with a great listen base that chimes in. The did a rewatch from the start a little while back (between S3 and S4, one episode a week. It's really sad when you say things like that. Damn you Sci-Fi Chennel!), which is worth a listen to with your own re-watchs.

Best Damn Podcast Ever - A show with so many in jokes it's not really worth listening to is you're not going to listen to all the back shows, starting back with the IMG podcast. Great fun to listen though, even it it's just banter all the time.

Another thing I like is Podiobooks. Audio books that are free to download as podcasts (as in you can set a release schedule and have them delivered via an RSS feed). A couple I liked are Playing For Keeps and The Failed Cities Monologues. These loads up there for you to take a looks at.

I used to listen to a few Farpoint Media shows (Slice of Sci-Fi and the like), but really they've been going down hill for quite while now, so I dumped them feeling no loss when I did. A pity really, they used to be far more fun less than a year ago.

The 1Up network shows, video and audio
the revision 3 shows, specifically Diggnation, Totally Rad Show and ifanboy
Real Time with Bill Maher
The Onion Radio News
