Recommend A Book

Anything by Frank Herbert that doesn't have "Dune" in the title, heh. Seriously, I have never been into any highstreet bookshop (aside from second-hand ones) and seen anything other than the Dune series for sale of his. Ironically, much as I like Dune, by my favourite character he ever created is Jorj X. McKie of BuSab - I've only read The Dosadi Experiment (plus The Tactful Saboteur) thus far, but I will get round to Whipping Star some day.

I'll throw in another really really good book with only a seemingly cult following - Desolation Road by Ian MacDonald. Why more people haven't read or heard of it I simply don't know.

Whipping Star. Has Jorj and makes you look at the night sky and say "Hmmmmmm...."

But... there's a small catch. Don't make it something very popular. No Dune, Lord of the Rings, Cryptonomicon, Neuromancer, The Mote in God's Eye, etc.

Recommend something to me that you finished reading, said "wow, that was awesome" and "why isn't this more popular.

Preferably SF or Horror! And... go.

I would recommend the A Time to... series followed by The Articles of the Federation. AotF is one of those why wasn't it more popular type of books. And the A Time to... series goes right before.

Dying Inside by Robert Silverberg. I think this one is somewhat overlooked. What happens to a telepath when he hits middle-age?

The Man Who Folded Himself by David Gerrold (The Trouble With Tribbles). Parrallel Universe stories are always good.

Parralleities By Alan Dead Foster. Yep, another parrallel universe novel.

Tommorrow and Tommorrow by Charles Sheffield. This one is a love story that spans thousands of years. I don't remember exact details anymore (I read it in 1998), but I do remember liking it.
