@gazomg is correct: @johnar, please don't use other people's work in your creations without at the very least giving them proper credit, like you did in that second post of yours, which uses a photomanipulation by @gazomg. For reference, please read the FAQ pinned at the top of this forum.

I guess it's possible that you found this somewhere on the internet without knowing that it was created by one of our own members. But even then, please make sure to state which parts of your images you didn't create yourself. It's not looked upon kindly in a forum full of creative people to just take the work of others and post it as your own.

What was I alleged to have stolen?
  1. The face of Jeri Ryan was not created by anyone here.
  2. The uniform (maybe) but then THEY stole her image from somewhere else didn't they!
  3. The Admiral was from Trek Core screen caps
  4. The earth was from Nasa
  5. The only thing left was the office (which I mostly deleted for the view
I mean no disrespect to you (the mod) or anyone here. But if we get too particular should we not guard our work more? Like not release it where it can be copied online. None of it was taken from here. At least not directly.

How about Icons? Did everyone here create their own icons?
Isn't the use of icons or screen names they did not invent themselves stealing?

I withdrew the art in question. Your loss. Just wanted to share with NO restrictions on it being copied.

That's what sharing means folks.

Well, okay then. If that's how you want to go about this … I guess most people would have just apologized and added proper credits to the parts in their work they didn't create, but sure, accusing the other's of stealing is an option, too.

As I said, I'm sure this could have been an honest mistake with no ill intent. I just pointed out that when you don't create a significant portion of your image by yourself (@gazomg's photomanip of Jeri Ryan in TOS uniform being central in your image sure counts as being a “significant portion”), you are supposed to say so here. And yes, in my opinion that does include images from NASA, Trekcore etc.

It's because if you post it without any such notice, people will automatically assume you created it yourself in Photoshop. Because, you know, it's the Fan Art forum section of this board. The idea is to post work by yourself, and if you use other's material (which in itself is not forbidden), just say so. It's not hard. It's simple.

And just an FYI, I did create my avatar all by myself. As for the letter “M”, I'm not sure who owns the copyright right now. ;)

Your loss.
I'm sure we will survive.

Since you deleted your content (really don't understand why, as no-one told you to), I see no reason for this to stay open. So, thread closed. If you want to comment on this, please PM me.
