Reasons the world needs the U.S.

I am not looking for political arguments or discussions which are better left for TNZ.

I am looking for main points on why the world needs the U.S., and if it were to collapse, would negatively affect our countries.

I have come up with a list that ranges from exports, charity, to military support (how ever you want to slice any of those).

Any ones you would suggest?

Have you read John Birmingham's novels "After America"? Basically over 90% of Americans mysteriously disappears from the US and what is left are those living near Seattle, WA and those who were overseas in other countries. I think only 10 million Americans remain and the world pretty much goes to crap afterwards. France falls into civil war. Germany is headed that way. Israel nukes all of the arab countries after learning they were going to attack and finally get rid of the Jews and the remaining Americans have to rebuild the country and fight off terrorist and pirates and looters from other countries who come here to steal everything not nailed down. It pretty much is a nightmare scenario.

America is very nice and I hope to visit it one day. Therefore it is vital that the US sticks around long enough for me to realise this dream.

Without the US, the rest of the world would have to make its own movies and TV shows. We do a great public service by funding such masterpieces as Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Freddy Got Fingered. If not us, then who? I ask you, who?

How are you supposed to have a meaningful dialogue on any real reasons why the world needs
the US without having a political discussion?

You know what I love about Bollywood movies? Lots of singing, lots of dancing, bright colors, and generally happy, smiling people.

The world needs the USA as a symbol to blame all of their problems on. This is especially crucial to non-american internet trolls on youtube.

And the British Empire is reborn, and a new era of prosperity unfolds across the globe. :techman:

You shall never retake the colonies! :scream: USA! USA!

Rome collapsed, but the world carried on.

If America fell over we'd just follow the Chinese.

Hell, in 20 years I think America will be playing second fiddle to China anyway.

At least you'd still have some cool rock bands.

What I love about Bollywood and Indian cinema in general is the sheer output and size of the industry there, and its huge influence on regional and (more recently) Western popular culture. It's truly admirable and astounding. :)

Rome collapsed but as I recall, the dark ages started because of it. If America collapses, you know that more wars would start and the world economy would be devastated for some time, even China couldn't hold up the world if America collapsed (perhaps in time but not right away) since they depend on us as their main export market and for their manufacturing sector (since our businesses have moved operations there). The world will carry on but it will not be pretty.

I just loved the notion of the military dictatorship that takes over the UK. All hail Tony Blair, The Lord Protector.

There are no non-political reasons as to why the world needs the US. And politically, I think it's doubtful if the world really needs the US, or if it were better off without it. The US are like a firefighter who sets buildings on fire to have something to do.
