Reading A Singular Destiny

I am liking the formation of the Typhon Pact, but I feel that Sonek Pran is a bit of a Marty Stu. He's got this unique breeding that makes him more interesting than everyone else, he's "Teh Greateszt Diplomat Evar!1!" and it just so happens that his family's band is so amazing that Donatra once saw them and felt it necessary to mention the band by name in small talk.

I just litterially finished a singular destiny and loved it. I thought it was better than
articles of the federation. both books are fantastic reads.

I should re-iterate that I'm liking the book overall, but feel that it would benefit from less Sonek Pran.

WHY I liked him very cool guy, would'nt like the banjo music not my thing, but cool a guy.

I thought Sonek was a really fun character, and I hope we see him him again.

I liked him, tho I agree he's a bit Mary Sue-ish. On the other hand, his Sue qualities actually get him in shit later so....

Not KRAD's finest work, I think; I see where it was going, but unlike Articles of the Federation, I don't think the massive continuity overload was actually a point in its favor. It took a lot of space up, and I think Pran ended up being weirdly underdeveloped as a result, so the emotional stuff later in the book didn't land for me at all.

The formation of the Pact was nice, the bit of foreshadowing for Full Circle was great, and I loved the chapter were Lonnoc Kedair took center stage for a bit (she was one of my favorite new characters from Destiny), but aside from that, nothing too special.

@timothy, to me it just seems that Pran is too "connected" to everything. Like I wrote in the original post, I thought it far-fetched that Donatra would suddenly reminisce about a specific band she once saw play, not to mention far-fetched that she would actually have seen them. Other issues include his "omg smartest dood" schtick. I don't dislike the character, just the execution.

that's cool each to his own. Like I said I liked the book has pran been in any of his other books?

that's cool thanks. I hope to see him soon but not his banjo he can leave that at home.
