Re: George Takei and Wallter Koenig

I agree.

I have met them both over the years, when I did the Star Trek Conventions. They are both great and nice men and they have both work hard for Star Trek.

I met Takei last year. What a charming man! And I have immense respect for his off-screen activism. I'm embarrassed that so many here poke fun at him and his character. (And yes, I'm straight; I can still admire the person. Whatever happened to the avowed commitment to IDIC?)

I agree with all. I've had numerous encounters with both men. They are both gentlemen. Real class acts. Walter also knows how to pick his women, because his wife is also a witty, intelligent, kind lady.
It does bug me that George is getting defined by his sexual orientation. Get over it, people.

Agree. I would say it's a mixed bag because he was in the spotlight for 30 odd yrs before anyone knew. And though I don't agree with all his political aims, I still do admire him for both his acting & stand up attitude with his various activism issues, Concentration camps etc. & Gay marriage is one thing, but Gay adoption is discrimination, but that truth perhaps belongs in TNZ.

Yes, George Takei is a homo. So is Walter Koenig. And William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan... the most prominent person who wasn't was Nichelle Nichols.

Homo is, of course, the Latin for man. ;)

Sorry, for my crudeness. The term Flamer may be more appropritae. i mean no ofense to Mr.Takei. I'bve watched him for years on tv and caught him on an old episode of baa baa blacksheep a year or two ago. If ghe reads this please accept my apology. Anyone who flies the starship Enterprise is ok in my book. I recall seeing the first film on opening day. My Junior high had an early dismissal adn i was home by about 10;35 am. i caught the 11:10 am first showing at a multiplex near my house. My mother took me there and i sat down and watched the first film. I recall siting there in the theatre glued. seeing them all back in action was something. seeing sulu fly the ship over the " V,Jer? " while they were all nervous was something !

A flamer? Good goddess, have you ever met one? Get real! Takei is a gentleman.

I don't care whether George is gay or not.

Incidentally, he's the first person I've ever met who admitted it. I have two friends whom I suspect were gay, but they never admitted it.

George reminds me of the man who invented Aikido. He has a firm handshake and large hands.

George Takei is an absolute darling. Funny, charming, friendly and good-looking to boot. He's a great convention guest.

I found Walter Koenig to be shy, almost painfully shy.
