Re-cast Captain Jonathan Archer

Maybe you didn't like Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer. I personally did. He just had the right "feel." But if you could pick anyone else to play Captain who would it be?

I think Matthew Broderick would have been good, but maybe he isn't old enough.

I've already made the argument that it wouldn't matter who played him, because he would've been written the same, but if I absolutely had to recast him, I'd go with Kieth David, Tucker Smallwood, or Bruce Campbell as my top three choices.

OMG, although there are a plethora of capable actors that could have played him, Bakula is Archer. The end.
I thought he did a wonderful job.

Agreed. The problem wasn't the actor, it was the way the character was written. Bakula is quite a capable actor. I just wish they had brought some more of the natural warmth he had on display on QL to this characterization.

I agree with you 50/50 that it was the writing, but I do think a capable actor would have overcome this to some degree.

Personally I think Keith Carradine would have been superb and a far better captain.

I think Kim Raver as Captain Johnalyn Archer would have been an excellent choice.
