Razzies: Worst list ever?

Okay, the new list for the Razzies have just been announced: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news09/090107i.php and let me tell you, a lot of fans are not going to be pleased. Some of the nominies were predictable, most notably, The Happening, and The Love Guru. (Both of which I still haven't seen, but the universal dislike seems unanimous.) But what the heck is Rambo doing on that list? Did they just see Stallone's name, and nominate him right away, or did they actually see Rambo? Stallone is in all the other catagories as well, Worst actor , and worst director. That seems harsh considering every fan of Rambo, and action movies in general loved the movie that I talked to. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20173992,00.html EW by the way gave it a B-. Hardly a contender for The Razzies. With the way the list went, I kept waiting for The Dark Knight to be there for something! Usually, they're spot on, but this year, it seems they wanted a bigger guest list. Well, that's my rant for the day. See ya!

Just who or what group is responsible for the Razzies in the first place?

Worst picture list:
Worst Picture: Speed Racer, Disaster Movie and Meet the Spartans, The Day the Earth Stood Still, High School Musical 3, The Hottie & The Nottie, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, The Love Guru, Postal, Rambo, The Happening, Meet Dave, Witless Protection
The Day the Earth Stood Still? Really? While open for debate whether this is a good film (the polls on this board say many think it is a very good film), but worst? Not a chance. And Speed Racer should make no one's top list, but no one's bottom either. It was simply a misfire as opposed to something truly horrendous. Other than generating headlines by slapping Stallone and Keanu Reeves with their picks, not sure what they're doing here.

Yeah, and though I hate to defend HSM3, it was a hit and pretty much liked by people who saw it. Whomever made this Razzies list is just shitting on it because of concept and not final product or reception of final product. I agree, Speed Racer shouldn't be on the list.

Plus, no mention for Righteous Kill? That was my worst movie of the year.

Didn't see The Love Guru or Meet Dave. But The Happening is the worst movie I can remember paying money to see in recent times. Including rentals. Well deserved placement on this list.

I thought it was funny that the studio that released 'Meet Dave' actually retitled it from 'Starship Dave' because they were scared to death that it was headed in the direction of the catastrophe known as 'Pluto Nash'. Too bad it takes a lot more than a name change to fix a film.

'The Love Guru' will probably be remembered in a few years as the film that ended Mike Myers' movie career.

The Razzies have offically jumped the shark. Rambo was one of the best action movies in years. Years from now that final battle will be regarded as one of the most memorable action scenes in cinema. If it's not your cup of tea, thats cool. But to say it was one of the worst films of the year and put it there with the likes Meet Dave and The Love Guru is just stupid and shows a lack of awareness.

'Rambo' had a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 17% for 'Meet Dave' and 14% for 'The Love Guru'.

The Razzies were fun at first, but now they're as irrelevant as the people behind it. They're basically the angry internet fanboy type, only they get press.

Other than having Uwe Boll and the Epic Movie/Date Movie people on it every year, what's the point?

Oh, I know the critics hated it. And it was discussed here in length and a general consensus was made about how dead wrong the critics were. But it was a given they were going to hate this movie as they usually hate macho action movies. Infact one of the biggest criticisms was that the movie "had no plot". You want a plot? In a Rambo movie? Seriously? Did you people go into Conan The Barbarian expecting it be another Lord of The Rings?

Wow. Just looked it up. The Day The Earth Stood Still got 19% and 12% from "Top Critics". I hadn't realized critics beat it up so badly. It's inclusion is a bit less baffling, even if I personally don't agree.

Why put Rambo in that list ??? It was a lot better than I expected, even from Stallone. It was not just about mindless action, but about what's really happening in Burma right now. A tough movie that doesn't deserve to be in that list !

Rambo was a reprehensible piece of violence-porn. It not only deserves to be on that list, it should have two slots. And I love action movies and liked 2/3 of the original Rambo movies (3 was crap--but watchable crap).

Before people get too outraged, it's worth pointing out that this is the nominating ballot, not the actual list of nominees. This is the list of potential nominees that gets sent out to Razzie members, and this list gets whittled down to the actual nominees.

And Rambo is not on there as just an anti-Stallone thing; Rocky Balboa wasn't nominated or even on the nominating ballot last time around.

Plus, no mention for Righteous Kill? That was my worst movie of the year.

Al Pacino and Jon Avnet are both on there partly for Righteous Kill, party for 88 Minutes.

For what it's worth, that guy at Dark horizons who wrote the article seems to question the Rambo inclusion. At least saying it doesn't belong with most of what else is on the ballot.
