Rather than Danny

List the things you would rather have on Doctor Who than Danny. I can't think of a more annoying character that's been on the show. His first episode was great, I anticipated him and Clara having adventures, but he was so mopey, had such a victim complex and only worked to create friction between the Doctor and Clara (which ruined her, too), that I started despising him after his second appearance.

That said, what would you rather have in Doctor Who than one second more of Danny? I'll start:

I'd rather have the entire cast replaced with Bonnie Langford than one more second of Danny.

My first thought when reading this line was bringing Mel back as a companion but since you beat me to that, I'll go with..

I'd rather have Peter Capaldi regenerate into Matthew Waterhouse at the end of the Christmas episode than have one more second of Danny.

Danny didn't really get on my tits until the final episode, but in the spirit of things...

I'd rather have Clara pregnant with the Doctor than one more second of Danny. ;)

Actually, I'm going to take a moment to be serious and repeat my opinion from the Flatline review thread that I'd prefer a relationship between Clara and Rigsy, as they did have more of a genuine spark between the two of them in one episode than Clara and Danny did in the entire season.

But in the spirit of the thread, I'd rather an episode where the TARDIS lands on a planet of ugly naked people without any camera tricks to cover anything up than any more Danny.

No, I kind of feel bad saying that. Samuel Anderson seems like a nice guy, and might even be a decent actor. Unfortunately, the character Danny Pink was so bland and terribly written I'm not sure he could be salvaged regardless the actor's talent.

Danny Pink was a fine character . . . for some show other than Doctor Who. He just doesn't work in the Doctor Who context. A whiney, mopey, I'd rather stay at home guy just doesn't work for Doctor Who. The guy in Flatline has a better relationship with Clara than Danny because he strived to be more.

Danny was just...bewildering. I liked his first episode, but after that, could they have picked a worse boyfriend for Clara? Jenna Coleman had genuine chemistry with Matt Smith. They were magical. She also has some chemistry with Capaldi, but the writers have limited the full potential of that, stupidly IMO, for story reasons.

She had zero chemistry with Samuel Anderson. Their characters' "relationship" was just weird, and as such, Danny's character arc had no impact with me.

And Danny was just weird, as well. They could've had Clara tell him about how the Doctor was a soldier himself and fought in the Time War (and bucked authority) and Trenzalore, or they could've had the Doctor tell Danny himself, to shut Danny's "Yes SIR! Officer, SIR! Don't get your hands dirty, SIR!" crap up. 30 seconds of screentime is all it would've taken.

Or just....take a trip on the TARDIS with your girlfriend and see why she likes it so much? Or instead of seeing the Doctor as controlling Clara and getting her to do his bidding, maybe see that by traveling with him, Clara herself gains confidence and self-expression, doing things she didn't think she could do? "Flatline" was a perfect time for that. Danny and the Doctor stuck on the TARDIS together while Clara does her thing. Danny and the Doctor could've had it out and Danny could've observed his girlfriend be awesome. But what did we get instead? Him saying "Whaddup bitch?" over the phone. (Yes, I know he really said "I've got our bench")

I don't know...he was just a poorly-executed character. But the worst thing is, because of him we'll never really see how Twelve and Clara could've really operated as a team, since the Danny storyline was shoehorned in to provide "conflict" and doubt between them. And now Jenna is leaving.

That said, Danny was still better than one more second of River Song......

I hated, hated, hated Danny Pink. What a horrible idea and even worse execution.

And he definitely said whaddup bitch

I'm so delighted to see others hating Danny as much as I do. I'd rather have K-9 than Danny, honestly.

Danny and the Danny/Clara relationship was extremely disappointing. Throughout the series when something about it would rub me the wrong way I kept telling myself that it was leading somewhere and that Moffet had a plan, I honestly believed that it was leading somewhere and that there was more going on then what it looked like but apparently I was wrong. I'm a huge Moffet fan and if you'd have asked me during series 8 I would have said I wanted Moffet to stay a few more years but now I find myself thinking that it's time for someone new to take over.

I liked Danny, and loved his interactions with both Clara and the Doctor, but I didn't like how his story ended at all.

Well..."he's half human, on his mother's side". At least that's how the Eighth Doctor put it.

Clara pregnant with the Doctor, or by the Doctor? :D
With. We've had quite enough of that hanky-panky nonsense. ;)
Not hanky-panky enough.

We could try better and aim at that sweet "his own grandfather" angle. It has a lot of potential. He could be half-human with no time lord in his system. That would make Susan his sister, River his grandmother and Clara their daughter. Danny doesn't have to be the Doctor's dad. No – one of the many Claras was impregnated by The Force, I mean the Time Vortex in TNOTD, and found herself in 5 BC Judea. After saving The Doctor from the GI, she gave birth to a child who grew up to be a Jedi, I mean Time Lord only to regenerate into Hartnell at the age of 35 in a cave.

Of course that all would be moot when Cyber-Danny becomes the Time Vortex after uploading his mind into Davros who is the Master's final incarnation using a Chameleon Arch.

I'd rather the Doctor turn out to be the protagonist of "-All You Zombies-" by Robert Heinlein than one more second of Danny.
