Trek movie not against other general films

With this stipulation, I must acquiesce to a score of 4, otherwise I would have given it a much lower one.

With all the plot holes and other problems it has, I still, after all these years, fail to understand why it's worshiped so much.

^^^I couldn't disagree more. I am amazed that after all these years and movies, it still holds up so well. Different strokes, I guess.

I happen to agree with you on this, but I phrased it that way because I think sometimes people are holding these movies up against Casablanca or citizen Kane.

5 stars here. This is by far my favorite Trek film. I loved everything about this movie from beginning to end and Spock's death never fails to make me cry every time I watch.

I tend to find so called 'classic' movies dull as dishwater, myself, but I see your point - my rating was given in the context of Trek movies alone.

^^Boy I agree 100%

i just watched Casablanca & rewatched 1938 Robin Hood. I could hardly stay awake for either. I'm sorry, sci-fi movies are just as legit as any other genre and Trek II is a darn good movie. It holds up well. Some of the holes in Casablanca are bigger than any in TWOK!

I love Casablanca, but that's a good point. It does have some righteous plot-holes.

I understand what you mean. I detest "Gone With the Wind," and I hate Scarlett O'Hara. I watched the whole movie and hated it. Trek II wasn't perfect, but I loved it!

5 stars, the best in the series. The chemistry between the big three is there, the villain is great, it combines action with moral issues in the best tradition of TOS, and the climax still packs an emotional punch every time I see it.

5. One of my all time favorites. I probably couldn't choose between TWOK and TMP, but TMP has the slight edge for me. But both are different enough that they manage to excel in totally different areas.
