Appalling. Good for Anthony Rapp to come forward and expose this. And Kevin Spacey's "apology" is anything but. Drunkness is no excuse for sexual assault and it's made even worse when it's against a minor.

House of Cards cancelled because of abuse claims from an actor from STD?

Looks like STD is about to get a lot of mainstream coverage.

I wonder why Rapp is suddenly coming forward with this now.

How is it damage control? Cancelling it because of the controversy would be a good thing.

The decision was made a few months ago.

 

Doubtful. The continuation of the series was not guaranteed even for the season filming now, let alone other seasons. There was much talk of it months ago.

 

It has been running on fumes for a while, last season was awful.

 

Damned if you do, damned if you don't for Netflix. If they claimed that they cancelled House of Cards because of allegations they would look better, BUT if it came out later that the were going to cancel the show anyway, then they would come off even worse. So it's better for them to just come clean and say the show was being cancelled anyway than take credit for making a decisions based on allegations and then get blasted for it anyway.

 

Damn. This is a really disturbing story. Poor dude was 14! Stoked to be on Broadway for the first time and then has a man who couldve been a role model exploit him.
I've always been a big Spacey fan but drunkeness is not an excuse for exploitative behavior of a minor. Also a really tone deaf and strange way to publically acknowledge his bisexuality.
Sorry that Mr. Rapp had this experience but glad that he was able to continue his career with many memorable roles.
His character in School Ties is a jerk but he's pure gold in daZED & cONFUSED.

 

Spacey deserves to be pilloried

 

Amazed to see Rapp copping criticism in comments on Trek's official Facebook pages, to the point of calling for him to be fired.

I know they're a cesspool of negativity at the best of times, but this is even more ridiculous than usual.

Why? The idiots making those posts are the same ones accusing Trek of being 'liberal' or 'SJW' all of a sudden. (Obviously, they never watched TOS or a good portion of TNG )

There may be any number of reasons why victims wait to speak out. It's not our place to question their reasoning. All we can do is lend what support we can.
