Ransum with Mel Gibson

Can somebody please tell me about the movie "Ransum" Starring Mel Gibson? The reason that I'm asking is that a clip from movie was shown in a church service that I went to this past Sunday. Please advise..... Is it a good movie, etc?

It would only cost a dollar to rent t Blockbuster & two hours of your time to watch & form your own opinion.

Why not do that?

Be sure to get Ransom.

And it isn't a scifi movie, so try not to be disappointed.

Haven't seen it myself, but Rotten Tomatoes reckons it doesn't suck (Ron Howard movies usually don't, apart from ones bases on Dan Brown books):

I found "Ransom" to be quite enjoyable. I saw it at the theater when it came out. My only problem was that the trailers of the day gave away the twist and took that shock moment away from me. But otherwise a fun flick. Just rent the thing and get a big ol' soda pop and some popcorn, kick back and have fun!

A lot of Ransom was filmed around the area of Northern New Jersey where I use to live. They made extensive use of Route 4 for the driving scenes. However they showed him driving both East and West bound to arrive at several locations, specifically the cement site and it was very jarring to watch.

I thought it was a by-the-numbers Hollywood thriller. Somewhat entertaining, but forgettable. Your life won't be diminished or enhanced by your decision.

I've never seen "Ransum."

But the movie "Ransom" is a pretty good thriller/action movie for its time. Simple enough plot and one of the last good movies Gibson did before his thin connection to reality finally snapped.

I'd recommend it.

Last I checked it was available on Netflix for instant streaming.
