Random Weird little thoughts about Picard...

Charles Phipps

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Plenty of people have deep thoughts about Picard's major changes, themes, and elements.

And some people just have weird thoughts about minutia and oddball things:

+ Does the fact that Picard use machines affect the way Chateau Picard wine tastes? His father, brother, and ancestors were Luddites but he's gone fully automated. I don't expect him out there with the grapes but it's just something he's given up the tradition of.

+ Is Picard planning on leaving the vineyard to his Romulan partners? (I'd rather not call them servants). It's not like he has any other relatives to leave it too.

+ Is Agnes going to jail for murder or does Starfleet work like Jedi Heaven and you just have to say you're sorry?

+ Did Bruce Maddox set up Dahj to go to the Daystrom Institute solely to screw with his ex-girlfriend? Why did he send the other one to the Borg cube?

+ Is Freecloud named after David Bowie's song in-universe?

+ If bio-androids can use the Vulcan mind-meld, is that why it's the "real" Picard in his new body? Do humans have Katras?

+ Does anyone else get an enormous Mass Effect vibe from this show? Not just the Reapers (I'm calling them that) but also the criminal cartels, ragtag companions on a super ship, and Synth-Human vibe. I mean, this is a circular inspiration because ME is blatantly Star Trek based but I couldn't shake it.

What are yours?

I’d love to post the actual first thought I had when I heard of what happened to Jean-Luc but it’s definitely too x-rated for this board.

You're terrible.

I’d say I’m sorry... but I’m not sorry. It was a legit... umm... “I need to know more details about this golem body” thought tho and I asked my Trekkie friends for answers and everyone had a different interpretation (as always!) - it was... interesting. All for science, of course.

Another random thought is the DISCOVERY and PICARD connection. The destruction of all sentient life in the galaxy by Control is identical in footage to the one by the Admonition.

Is it possible that Control found out about it and that's why a simple A.I. created by the Federation gained the power to wipe out all life?

Lmao... I'm thinking you mean a 'parts' reason.

Am I the only one who just flat out thinks Laris and Zhaban are in a poly trio with Picard?

I mean, not necessarily Picard with Zhaban but both of them are effectively married to Laris?

It adds a very interesting dynamic I think and nothing contradicts it.

She should be put on trial, but she has an airtight defense, she was brainwashed by an evil Romulan spy who was also Head of Starfleet Security. No jury in the Federation would convict her.

Basically, Commodore Oh killed Maddox, Agnes was just the weapon.

Kind of like Geordi almost assassinating that Klingon governor.

I'm sure that there are higher-end domestic servants out there who take great pride in their work and would object to how their profession is being characterized here.
