Rambo vs. Mexico is back on (no more monster).

I didn't see a thread for this. Forgive me if I missed it.

Excellent. Looks like we'll be getting a decent Rambo flick and an adaptation of Hunter.

I don't know...I was kinda' intrigued by Rambo transposed with the main character in Hunter. It was doing something different with the character.

Don't get me wrong...could've been and most likely would've been really bad, but interesting, none the less.

Rambo after human traffickers I'm sure will be awesome...but not necessarily as interesting.

I guess this means no Rambo 2012 where he stops the apocalypse with bullets. :)

So is Stallone still attached to Hunter or will they be going for some hip young TV star?

Definitely in for another Rambo film. Plus we all have the good fortune of getting The Expendables to keep the action fix going.

Is Stallone going to be directing and writing this one?

My understanding - from talk when the 'Rambo v Monster' plot for Rambo V was first announced is that Stallone has had the rights to that novel for some time. He just hasn't been able to get a studio to finance it as a straight standalone adaptation of the book. The suggestion seemed to be that he had to put the Rambo name behind it to get it off the ground.

Presumably if Rambo and the Expendables are hits, he'll be able to persuade them to film Hunter without any Rambo connection. But if not - well, Sly might have to give up on it and/ or rope in some young tv star to co-star.

I would have liked to see Rambo go up against that monster. It had all the makings of something oddly good or insanely bad, either would have been fun to watch.

I hopefully it'll be better than the last one or at least more complete. Rambo 4 felt like the trailer to the best Rambo film since First Blood. It had a lot of potential and the setup was excellent ... and then it was over.

Thank Goodness.

Seconded. I was worried for awhile. Scifi doesnt belong in a Rambo film. Let Stallone use the story for another character. Thankfully he came to his senses. He has been on a roll his last two films I hope it remains that way. Cant wait for this. We have two Stallone movies to look forward to now. The Expendables and Rambo 5.:techman: Almost like the 80's again.:D:D

Hadn't heard about this story until just now but I have to agree with you.

The last Rambo movie didn't even make it's budget back. Why are they giving him money to make another one?

Sweet. I thought the Mexico plot was a hell of a lot better and relevent. Rambo goes sci-fi was a joke.

This is excellent news indeed, regardless of how the movie turns out. Rambo going pseudo-scifi just got under my skin and even moreso after the awesome return of the character last year.

Rambo vs Mexican drug runners/kidnappers is not only more relevant but more Rambo-esuqe. Fighting a gurellia war at home sounds better for the character.
