Racing - Hell freezing over?

Hard to believe, but for yet another weekend, the F1 race was the best race on TV. Does anyone remember the good 'ol days when Senna or Prost or Mansell would beat each other to the first corner and then lead a 90 minute parade without tire or fuel stops? Monaco and Montreal were really terrific races! Plenty of passing, old timers leading or running near the front, bone headed moves by young prodigy's, a first time winner. I think this series is turning the corner. Between Montreal and the Texas IndyCar race, NAPCAR at Pocono looked reeeeaalllyy slllloowww. (although I was elated that Kyle Busch crashed himself out...again) I realize that Indy is not such a good F1 track, but if the USGP comes back next year, I will finally make my pilgrimage to 16th and Georgetown.
Also: I think David Coulthard could be talked into running next year's Prelude to the Dream. Smoke needs to start talking to him now.

With all due respect, it seems like F1 is reveling in the fact they don't want to have a fan base in the U.S. They let Scott Speed go, and essentially broke a commitment to Indy by leaving. Personally, I don't think they want to come back, and quite frankly, unless F1 leadership gets their heads out of their you know whats, it'll be highly unlikely they'll return in the near future. And even if they do, they won't support it as much since they have no Americans in the field, with Scott Speed now in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. By leaving, they essentially shot themselves in the foot, and made a lot of potential fans very angry.

Frankly, I'll stick to NASCAR and IndyCar. If they ever get wise and come back, I'll consider forgiving F1, but as I said, I believe they don't want to come back. And even if they do, I want Indy to tell them to stuff it (and rightfully so, after the F1 non-race two years ago).

If F1 comes back, it won't be Bernie driving he move. It will be the manufacturers. The US is still the #1 car market in the world. Heck, BMW just announced it will spend $1B to expand production here. Montreal is a good race, but Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Toyota, et, al want a bigger North American presence.
I'm just hoping that Indycar can get back to the kind of track balance it had from 90-95 as CART. It's almost unbelievable now that CART was once approaching F1 in worldwide popularity, and that top talent was moving back and forth. Now, we have Kyle Busch (KYLE BUSCH!) getting an F1 test. Now THAT's an example of hell freezing over!
