R.I.P. James Darren

Very sad to hear about his passing. 88 is indeed a good run, and yet he never seemed especially old, even in his Shuttlepod podcast last year. Time flies very fast.

His music on DS9 was a great addition to the show, and my wife and I always liked when he was in an episode - his rendition of The Way You Look Tonight was a big reason why we had that song played at our wedding.

RIP pally.

I love this duet with Avery Brooks. Brooks was a talented singer as well, and if I recall correctly this is the only time he really got to showcase that particular talent.

Saw the episode yesterday during my DS9 rewatch. A classic moment.

James Darren (Vic Fontaine) has passed away today at 88. I actually heard about it before it was publicly announced as a Facebook friend of mine knew him; still I wanted to wait until there was a public announcement to avoid rumor-mongering. Rest in peace, Vic. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/james-darren-gidget-moondoggie-star-trek-1236127756/

Very sad news, but he's off to his next journey. I cannot recall a single performance where he did not shine, even if the script was dodgy. For all of the deserved criticism a great amount of Irwin Allen's sci-fi series receives, Darren's Tony Newman (from The Time Tunnel) was portrayed with such heartfelt conviction in the middle of the fantastic plots. Easily one of the strongest performances in any Allen TV series.

I really ;liked James Darren as Vic Fontaine rest in peace ,I really am glad he did the interview with Connor Trinneer and Dominic last year talking about his career and being on ds9.
