The jazz trumpeter and much-loved chairman of "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" Humphrey Lyttelton has died.

He had been admitted to hospital for an aneurysm op recently, but it's incredibly sad news all the same.

Rest in peace, Humph. May you continue your music in heaven (via Mornington Crescent of course). :(

    Dammit.

I loved listening to Humph's chairmanship of I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. Nobody could deliver a low-key, deadpan double entendre about a fictional assistant like Humph.

    :(

Looks like Humph finally reached Mornington Crescent... :(

Prior to his operation, it was decided to cancel the current series of ISIHAC rather than get a replacement chairman. I recall that Barry Cryer once discussed with the late Willie Rushton that without Humph, ISIHAC wouldn't be worth doing anymore, simply because Humph pretty much was the show.

Sadly, very sadly, I have to agree with them.

So, as the jazz trumpeter of Time sounds off the Bad Penny Blues of Fate...
... only to be drowned out by the Colin Sell Tribute Act of Destiny....
    ... it looks like it's the end for I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue... :(
