Yep, he was good on Dallas. And he was one of those grey-area characters who could be either villain or friend, depending on the situation.

George Kennedy also had a role in the musical version of Lost Horizon.

How many times do we see an engineer as a hero? Not in the NuBSG--that was for sure.

Right up there with Geordi and Scotty.

Did we ever see ANY engineers during that show? I don't recall even seeing engineering.

As for George Kennedy: He's one of the few things about the Naked Gun movies that's actually funnier than their Police Squad! counterpart. I mean, Alan North did a good job, but it just wasn't the same.
