An amazing guitar player foremost, but he also had a great voice and was a very genuine, plain-spoken gentleman. I first saw him on PBS when I was pretty young and I didn't think acoustic guitars were cool. A few minutes of watching changed that opinion for good. Something about his playing and his voice connects very profoundly to me, it's direct and unaffected and never showy for the sake of showing off. I never got to see him live. I didn't know he was as old as he was, and I'm very sorry to hear he's gone. RIP Doc.
